USB-C : One Cable and One Port to connect everything ⚡⚡⚡
The Universal Serial Bus Type-C, usually referred to as just USB-C, is a new type of connector for delivering data and power💡 to/from computing devices. It is a 24 pin USB connector system💻 which is distinguished by its symmetrical orientation i.e. it can be inserted either way.
USB-C is the emerging standard for charging and transferring data. It’s included in devices like newest laptops💻, smartphones📱 and tablets. The significance of USB-C can be understood by the fact that Apple🍎 has designed a new 12 inch MacBook with USB-C as the only port in it.
The USB-C port is smaller than USB-A while offering greater capabilities, allowing it to replace both micro-USB and standard USB Type-A ports on devices.
USB-C is the first reversible cable- meaning first time insertion.
USB-C ports support USB 3.1 data transfer standard which comes in two varieties: Gen 1 (with a transfer speed up to 5 Gbps) & Gen 2 (speed⚡ up to 10 Gbps).
A USB 2.0 connection provides up to 2.5 watts of power- enough to charge your phone📲 or tablet. But USB-C supports power delivery up to 100 watts. And it is bi-directional, so a device🖥 can either send or receive power.
This power can be transferred at the same time the device is transmitting data across the connection. This type of power delivery could even charge your laptop💻 which usually requires power up to 60 watts.

In addition to power and data📈, USB-C is designed to support a wide variety of standards. It is positioned as one-size-fits-all solution, supporting a number of audio and video modes.
USB-C has revolutionized the connectors to become a replacement for the 3.5mm headphone jack🎧, HDMI cable and Display Port interfaces.
